At Realm Makers Writers' Conference

I'm so excited to be back at the Realm Makers Conference after not being able to attend last year. This is such a special conference. When you attend and start meeting people and making friends, your shared desire to write Christian speculative fiction binds you in a way that doesn't happen in most other writers' conferences. It's like you join a (very, very large) family, and every time you attend, it's like you're coming to a family reunion.

This is the ninth Realm Makers conference I've attended, and I've made so many friends there. I'm so excited to see most of the special friends I've made here! Not only that, but for the first time, I brought a friend with me--a young author who is also a talented artist, and I'm thrilled to personally introduce someone into the world of Realm Makers!

And I'll be pitching the full Fast Track Thrillers series to two publishers! I had signed up for one pitch appointment when I registered for the conference, but when I arrived, I learned that we could sign up for another. I spend some time looking up the other publishers who had appointments available, found another one that seemed like it might be a good fit, and signed up. I'm sure I'll have some butterflies in my stomach tomorrow, when both of my pitch appointments are scheduled, but for now, I'm just excited for the opportunity to put the Fast Track Thrillers before some publishers who I'm praying will be interested in them.

I'm Going to Pitch My Book Series at a Writers' Conference!

As I continued to work my way through the chapters of Revenge, the third book in my Fast Track Thriller series, I realized that with the new section added, I'm at the point where I can pitch the book at Realm Makers, the writer's conference I go to every July. I was so excited that a second lightbulb moment a few days later caught me by surprise. It occurred to me that I needed to pitch the entire Fast Track series!

As I started looking for information about the first two books--getting the rights back, permission to reuse the covers, metadata and other information--I realized that I had a whole package to offer to a publisher! The only question is whether any will be interested once I tell them that two of the three books have already been published? Not once, but twice.

I still felt that I had a lot to offer, so I took a look at the publishers who would be at the conference. When I saw one in particular, I got excited again! This one is small enough for them to encourage their authors to work together and help each other, but puts out a high amount of books each year. Plus, I have met the owner of the publishing house at Realm Makers a number of years ago, and a friend of mine is now published with them.

I've signed up for an appointment with the publisher. Now I need to get busy creating a one-sheet for the entire series!

I'm SO excited!
